Our name springs from various languages and their words for “circular”, “around”, and “eye” – visually echoed in the letter o.
The circle is a universal symbol, deep in meaning: wholeness, perfection, an infinite cycle. It has been used in ancient rituals, in science, in art. It defines the movements of both atomic particles and celestial objects, and can be seen everywhere in nature – from a blackbird’s eye to a drop of rain.
The circle is also synonymous with a group of people who share interests, knowledge or friendship. Our own circle is made up of dynamic, visionary people who seek adventure and inspiration, question rules and conventions, and value an open, optimistic mindset. It is a circle to which everyone is welcome.
Finally, the three o’s in okolo are there to remind us of our three defining pillars: nature, science and art.
